Political Communication Major

Political Communication Studies is a program that focuses on human and media communication in the political process and that prepares individuals to function as members of political and public affairs organizations, political campaign staffs, and related government and media entities.

Political Communication majors and degree programs will include instruction in media effects, political speaking and debating, political advertising and marketing, image management, political journalism, opinion polling, and aspects of print and broadcast media related to the production and distribution of media messages in political settings.

What can you do with a major/degree in Political Communication Studies?

With this career field being interdisciplinary (communication and political science), you will likely find yourself with a job in (but not limited to) political consulting, foreign service, market research, lobbying, public relations, journalism and digital media, community organization, and political campaigning.  Some examples of job titles you can hold are digital strategist, account rep for political digital agency, communications manager for political campaign, social media specialist.
