A major/degree in Chemical Engineering will prepare individuals to apply mathematical and scientific principles to the design, development and operational evaluation of systems employing chemical processes, such as chemical reactors, kinetic systems, electrochemical systems, energy conservation processes, heat and mass transfer systems, and separation processes; and the applied analysis of chemical problems such as corrosion, particle abrasion, energy loss, pollution, and fluid mechanics.
Includes instruction in general and organic chemistry at multiple levels of difficulty as well as physics and principles of biology. Math classes might include differential equations and various advanced levels of calculus.
What can you do with a major/degree in Chemical Engineering?
There are many different industries where you may find jobs with your chemical engineering degree. These career paths include (but are not exclusive to) healthcare engineer, biotechnology engineer, food scientist, biotechnology engineer.
Trade Associations and Professional Organizations in Chemical Engineering
Professional associations are groups of specialists dedicated to topics in particular fields. Professional associations provide a wealth of online resources, some of which are geared specifically towards students. These organizations typically also host conferences and events, providing great opportunities for learning and networking across your field of interest.
