Dietetic Technician Major

This major is a program that prepares individuals, under the supervision of registered dietitians and nutritionists, to implement nutritional and dietetic plans and provide direct client and patient services.

Includes instruction in human nutrition, client interviewing and record keeping, dietary planning, food preparation and safety, food worker supervision, food service establishment monitoring and inspection, and applicable procedures and regulations.

What can you do with a major/degree in Dietetic Technician Major?

As a Dietetic Technician, it is your job to assist in the provision of food service and nutritional programs, under the supervision of a dietitian. May plan and produce meals based on established guidelines, teach principles of food and nutrition, or counsel individuals.

 

Job opportunities for dietetic technicians are extremely likely in the future as this career subsector is expected to see five-seven percent (5-7%) growth 2019-2029.

A high school diploma or equivalent is generally the minimum educational requirement to enter this career area.  Certification or Associate Degree is highly recommended.
