This major is a program that prepares individuals to function as professional instructors in the spiritual and physical therapy of Yoga in private, institutional, and clinical settings.
Includes instruction in the principles of Ayurveda, philosophy of Yoga, warm-up and progressive exercises, breathing exercises, meditation, Yamas and Niyamas, instructional techniques, posture adjustment, student/client counseling and assessment, advanced Yoga disciplines and styles, business practices, and professional standards and ethics.
What can you do with a major/degree in Yoga Teacher Training/Yoga Therapy Major?
As a Yoga Teacher or Therapist, you will develop and use a series of exercises and breathing applications to improve a person's posture, flexibility, and strength. As well, yoga teachers and therapists also instruct students on meditation and visualization exercises. You may also have the title of instructor or trainer.
To become certified to teach yoga at the most basic level you can plan on dedicating 200 hours to training.
